Important:
Lots of RAM
i5 or i7
> or = 15" (11-13" preferred)
good controls (gestures) (most like macs)
construction quality

pretty important:
no CD/DVD player
Lots of HD space. Preferably one SSD and one spinning
battery life
thinness

Not so important:
appearance
gpu

I was attracted by the alienware m11x because it contained so much power in such a small form factor though even though I'm not too concerned about its appearance, the m11x really pushed my aesthetic tolerance.

So what do you think?

The Alienware wouldn't be to bad but what's good about it is, the choice of customizing it to your criteria.

Yeah but they discontinued them... that was great little machine. I think Asus makes a powerhouse 11 inch but I can't find it anymore either. I think all those got cannibalized by ultrabooks

A 13" with your desired specifications is most likely going to push you over 1k :/
A 11" with your desired specifications is going to get you a better chance but harder to find a powerful 11"
