I have a friend who has a camera setup with a DVR in his pizza shop. It has capabilities of being viewed over the internet from a different location. The instructions basically state to check your network connections, network settings and "Use order ping ***.***.***.*** (* DVR IP)". I don't understand the last item about ping, nor do I understand how to determine the IP address. Earlier in the instructions it says the default IP address is 192.168.1.108. But if I were to enter that address it would look for a device on the network I am currently on with the address. Correct? Not the DVR in the pizza shop across town. And when you have figured all this out you are then to enter the DVR IP address into your browser and you will connect to the DVR's internal software.
