Restart the PC

Press F8 on bootup

Select REPAIR YOUR COMPUTER

Click on REPAIR

On the System Recovery Options menu you will get the following options:

Startup Repair
System Restore
Windows Complete PC Restore
Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool
Command Prompt

Can you get to this screen?

If yes

Select System restore

If you have restore point before you installed microsoft security essentials restore it or if you have restore point before you were infected would be fine

if there are no restore points let me know.

I saw there were no restore points previously, during the only one time I was able to get into safe mode.

I bought Norton 360 (was using Avira). Seems to be fixed, although my windows look more like 98SE now....specifically the system tray and all window labels. So doesn't look very good anymore (settings are still set to same for appearance "let windows decide").
