im using a siemens sx 541 w-lan dsl router and sometimes it just restarts at random times. Sometimes 5 times in one hour. The confusing thing is, is that the power stays on and it just makes a loud clicking noise and the dsl/online/wlan leds turn off and then on again.

How many computers do you have connected to the router? It sounds like an internal power protection. Look at the wires inside the sockets on both the female plugs at each computer and all ports on the router. You may also have a break in an ethernet cabe. Is the router sitting on electrical equipment?

theres one computer connected to the router. Its sitting above the pc, but theres a table in between and theres an external hard drive next to it.
