I had to reformat my Satellite a505-s6995 laptop running Windows 7 home prem. When I did, I am missing some items in device mgr. and my wireless doesn't work. This is a list of yellow "?" >
1- base system device
2- base system device
3- network controller
4- unknown device

I am lost at what to do to id this. I went to the Toshiba download site and downloaded and installed 2 different wireless drivers with same results. BTW, the wireless light is on...
Thanks for any help

Do you have a disk that may of came with your laptop, it should have what you are missing, which would be "Drivers".

You can get the disk here: Restore Disk

That is an ebay page, so the link may expire.

Right click on network controller-Properties-Details

Select Hardware IDs in the Property

Post the contents of VALUE here.It should be something like this

PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_002B&SUBSYS_30A117AA&REV_01

Similarly post the values of UNKNOWN DEVICE

Regarding base system device, download this driver
