Sorry if this is in wrong section, first post.

Completely puzzled. I have a VGA cable running from my desktop straight into the vga port on my hdtv. Now the cable is faulty and without angling it correctly the screen turns purple. So i bought a new cable. I plugged it in and it worked great...no problem. However one day i moved my desktop downstairs and using the same cable plugged it into the tv downstairs...once again worked fine, but as i moved my desktop back upstairs and reconnected it to my hdtv it now doesnt work...yet still works on the one downstairs....any ideas as to why it worked once and now wont work ?
