Hello All,

I have a word document that has 100 pages of text. I'm trying to indent the first line of each paragraph but when I click the indent button it indents all of the text all the way down. I went into the paragraph settings and selected first line of paragraph but still the issue persists.

any ideas?

Hi,

It seems you have a document without paragraphs breaks and only have line breaks, word is seen the all document as 1 paragraph.
Try this press CTRL + SHIFT + 8 what symbol do you see at the end of the paragraph?

How did the document got generated?

Im seeing the paragraph symbol and Im seeing a bunch of ............... except they are smaller. Would I be correct in saying that instead of hitting enter to break the line he put in spaces? I'll get two or three paragraphs before I'll see another paragraph symbol. I didn't create the document but after speaking to the person who did they said that they used word and given the fact that I get the [Compatibility Mode] in the window title I'm assuming he used a version somewhere in between 97-03.

I'm using office home and business 2010. How do I go about making each paragraph appear to word as a paragraph?

I assume that I need to delete the ....... (which I assume he just space bar to make a new line) and then hit the enter key and properly break the line? everyline or just at the end of the paragraph?

Thanks!

Yes, It's worse than i thought. Check the document maybe you can search .(space)(space)(space) and replace with .^p to get a paragraph. And replace 2 consecutive spaces with one space several times.
