I am using windows 7 and when I open a web site and then try to open a link within that site all I get is a tab that is blank and has a question mark on it. It doesn't do this for all links but it does for most of them.

What browsers have you tried when you say its blank? Do you regularly clear your cache or temp files?
Download SecurityCheck.exe from Here

. Run SecurityCheck and follow the instruction from inside the code box.
. When the scan is finished, a notepad will automatically open as check.txt
Please copy and paste the contents here on your next reply.

Download MiniToolBox and select all options.
A notepad will open then copy-paste the report on your next reply.

Hi Larry -
First:
============= Hosts content: ==============
Your Hosts File is empty, so lets fix that now -
Download Rogue killer
Right click on it and select run as administrator
Now,click on HOSTS FIX option on right side
A log should get generated after the fix ,post the log here

Next:
Error Note: Description: The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk6\DR7
Run a Disk Check on your C: drive in Windows:
•Click Start and open Computer
Right-click on C: (or your main drive letter) and select Properties
•Click on the Tools tab
•Under Error-checking click the Check Now... button
•Mark the 2 boxes next to Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors
•Click on the Start button
•When the message box pops up, click the Schedule disk check button and Reboot your computer
•Once your computer restarts it will check the drive, don't press any keys so that it is allowed to do so
Make sure any CDs and USB Flash drives are removed first -

This will take about 1 hour (on average) so please let it finish. The computer will boot to Normal when all 5 stages are finished

Next:
Error Note: Please check for updated firmware for your system.
Open Device Manager and check for any Driver updates to all installed hardware -

Next:
From Control Panel > Programs and features > Delete Java™ 6 Update 30 (Version: 6.0.300)
And unless you are a software developer JavaFX 2.1.1 (Version: 2.1.1)
Windows Live Essentials (Version: 15.4.3502.0922) is the old version of MSE, and can be removed since you have the latest update, Windows Live Essentials (Version: 15.4.3502.0922)

Next:
Visit Microsoft Windows Update to make sure you have all latest updates.
Note: Do not select any Custom Updates if they are offered, as they are usually not required.

Please let us know if you have any questions or problems and we are always willing to help -

Thank You -

Do you have blank page on both chrome and Internet explorer?

I have Chrome installed as a backup

Does that mean that you're able to browse on chrome?

When did this issue start?

It works fine with Chrome ... I think it is a IE 9 problem.

Press WIndows+R key and type

inetcpl.cpl and click ok

The Internet Options dialog box appears.

Click the Advanced tab.

Under Reset Internet Explorer settings, click Reset.

Checkmark Delete personal settings option

See if you're able to open the links now.

Thanks Narenxp,

I tried that already ...

Some info for you for future reference ...

I am on to something here ... LOL

I turned off Active X Filtering and the Smartscreen Filter and all is well now ...

Thanks to everyone for all their suggestions ... It has been a real trip.

Larry
