Hi all, don't know if this is the right forum so excuse me if it isn't.I have been using win-rar for years and have had no trouble except for one thing.A few times I have tried to extract files and it works as usual except sometimes I get an error to the affect that title is to long, can't have more than 260 charachters.Everything else extracts but those items. How can I get those items to extract,thank-you.

No need to delete.
Others may find the solution useful, if it is posted.
I'll take a guess that you renamed the file(s).

I use Winzip, but there are several freeware programs, e.g. 7-Zip, that handle RAR files.

No,renaming the file will do no good. The to many characters comes from within the rar file. When you right tick on the rar file
I was selecting extract files.Instead you have to tick on the one below it that says extract HERE.Worked for me every time.

I was referring to renaming the file(s)with the long filenames, not a single RAR file, as per this link:

http://www.ehow.com/how_5939129_extract-long-file-names-winrar.html

'Extract to Here' is obviously quicker.
