Our old router stopped working. The Cable modem is connected to our router and shows as connected but there's no internet. All the lights are on router and cable modem as they should be. So we bought a new router and now its having the same problems. we are using wirelessly through a router netgear70.

Try to contact your internet service provider (ISP). I believe that there is an error signal held at the WAN port of your routers (both old & new). Your ISP should be able to remote reset your router. After that, you will be fine to surf.
