Hi everyone, I'm Sarah. :)

My job is a GP Practice Manager, but I'm also a bit of a secret computer fanatic. I enjoy the challenge of fixing broken or infected computers (especially men's computers when they can't fix them themselves. lol.)

But there are certain things, particularly with the latest malware/rootkit/bootkit infections, that I don't really understand properly. So I thought I'd join up and try to increase my knowledge of these kind of infections.

I've already had a look in the Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs forum, and there's definitely lots of information in there that I can learn from. So I'm looking forward to a very interesting time here. :thumbup2:

Hi boopme, and thank you for welcoming me to the forum. :)

Yes, you were too quick for me in replying to that topic. I will need to learn to type faster. :busy: :hysterical:

I read the instructions for posting advice in the Am I Infected forum. I think it's definitely a good idea to prohibit untrained members from giving instructions about manual rootkit removal using non-automated and advanced ARK tools. I am OK dealing with rootkits and bootkits if the computer is sitting in from of me and I have access to all my various tools and boot disks etc. But I would NOT be confident of telling someone how to fix this kind of thing over the Internet, without me being able to touch their keyboard. I wouldn't like to take the chance of me accidentally turning someone's PC into a doorstop. :(

I do have tools for fixing unbootable computers. But again, I have only ever used them when the computer is sitting in from of me, not remotely over the Internet, without me being able to touch the victim's keyboard.

I will follow that topic you replied to. It looks like quite an interesting case. :thumbup2:
