I had problems with accidently uninstalling Microsoft Office Starter 2010 that came preinstalled and doing a system restore to try and save it but basically i was screwed and can't fix it, my topic is here which describes it: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic455341.html/page__p__2715537__fromsearch__1#entry2715537

I tried open office but i don't really like it so i was thinking of buying Microsoft Office Home and Student 2010 and installing but what i want to know is will i uninstall the 'not working' MS Office starter thats already installed before installing the new bought version? i dont want any clashes with installation and also worried about deleting anything that might affect my comp.
I was told by someone to run a fixit tool to remove the preinstalled office, is this ok? or just uninstall from program list?

It is entirely up to you. The fixit completely uninstalls office and all it's components, and the program list will just uninstall the application. Either way will work for you, just that fixit is more in depth.
