Hi,
My friend gave me his Windows 7 laptop and said he can't access the internet. He said that his other desktop and laptop can connect to the internet from his wireless network fine. He said that his kid downloaded a game called ROBLOX and then the laptop stopped connecting to the internet either wired or wireless. I ran mbam and everything came back clean, I ran combofix and tdskiller as well and everything came back fine.
I tested with static IP address and DNS and that did not work either. I could not even ping the router itself. All other devices work fine and can ping the router and get out to the internet.
The laptop itself is running fine with nothing seems to be out of sorts and not eating up memory or cpu resources.
Not sure what is going on.
Any ideas what might be the culprit? I can't uninstall the ROBLOX software because it tries to access the internet to uninstall.
Thanks

Do you have restore point before installing ROBLOX?

Not yet. Waiting to hear from him if it is ok or not. The last point I found was 3 weeks ago and not sure when his kid installed this program.

I got the go ahead from him and did the system restore and that worked fine now.
Before I did this, I flushed the DNS and there were no proxy settings for IE and FF.
Still not sure what caused this but he will be happy to have the laptop back.
Thanks for the help.
