hi.i have windows xp sp3.it was fine until today evening when i booted my laptop.it started all fine.but when i openend MY COMPUTER, it opened a explorer windows with a torch moving(not normal.). and i was not able to run any program. then i checked my task manager(it did responded.) it showed only 19 processes (completely abnormal) because my normal processes were like 35-40. i wasnt able to shut down my pc..when i click shutdown,it kills explorer.exe and sits with my wallpaper for long time.i need to turn it off electrically. THINGS I HAVE TRIED :- i) system restore using safe mode.(didnt worked.)
ii) configuring msconfig to normal (using safe mode as in normal boot up nothing responds.) i have avast+ malware bytes antimalware installed.
Any help is really needed and appreciated.

System restore doesn't work or it didn't fix the problem?
