HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_11D4&DEV_1986&SUBSYS_104381B3

PCI Database (where I get most of my divers marked with an ? or an ! in a pinch) is telling me this is a device made by Analog Devices, Inc. and that the driver is for SoundMAX Digital Audio. The link in the notes is broken (403 - forbidden).

I haven't been having a lot of luck with places like cnet, where I know it's safe to download drivers from, versus places that ask for e-mail, or want to install warez to "update" your drivers. The few I've found and attempted to install tell me that the hardware hasn't been found on the computer.

Anyone able to point me to one that works?

Have you tried the manufacturers website for your model or motherboard? http://www.analog.com/en/content/soundmax_drivers_information/fca.html

This site records your HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_11D4&DEV_1986&SUBSYS_104381B3&REV_1005 as having a compatible driver
http://drivers.driverupdate.net/library/driver_info.php?type=soundcard&vendor_id=429&vendor_name=Analog+Devices%2C+Inc.&device_id=72229&device_name=SoundMAX+Integrated+Digital+HD+Audio&driver_id=26209
--- I'm sure you might be leary of checking it out especially since it won't be free but maybe it will turn out ok as a last resort
--- I had a friend of mine who was going to use driverupdate.net recently only because he wanted to improve his computer's performance but I talked him out of it because I told him - don't fix your computer if it isn't broke.

I don't know the brand. I think someone custom built it for this person.

However, I pulled out Belarc to get as much info as I could for you.

Operating system is XP, SP3
The main board reads ASUSTek Computer INC. M2NPV-VM 1.xx
