Norton Antivirus Error 2048, 3

Hi, I have Norton Internet Security 2012 on Windows 7, and yesterday, I received the error message of 3048, 3. I was then directed to download Norton Power Eraser, which I did. It then restarted my computer did a scan and found nothing. The message popped up twice more. I then downloaded MBAM (the free version) and performed both a quick scan and a full scan. Nothing showed up. I decided to try and run my computer in safe mode to see if that might help. When I got to the bootup menu, I couldn't use the arrow keys to select safe mode so I had to restart in normal mode. It hasn't given me any trouble today, but I'm afraid it'll rear it's ugly head again soon, and the people over at the Norton forums aren't much help.

Launch it.Click on change parameters-Select TDLFS file system

Click on "Scan".Please post the LOG report(log file should be in your C drive)

Do not change the default options on scan results

Download

aswMBR

Launch it, allow it to download latest Avast! virus definitions
Click the "Scan" button to start scan.After scan finishes,click on Save log

Post the log results here

Download

ESET online scanner

Install it

Click on START,it should download the virus definitions
When scan gets completed,click on LIST of found threats

Export the list to desktop,copy the contents of the text file in your reply

Click on SHOW results.Select all infections and remove it

Reboot the PC and scan MBAM once in regular mode until you get a clean log

TFC

Launch it,it will close all running programs

click on START,it should ask for reboot.If TFC locks up the system,run it in safemode

Turn off your system restore,restart the PC,create a new restore point

Well, I just tried to boot in safe mode before doing all that to see if that was still a problem and it was. Whenever I get into the bootup menu the arrow keys won't work, and I can't select safe mode so I have to turn the computer off and then turn it back on.

Click on startmenu and type

cmd

Right click on it,select run as administrator and run this command

chkdsk /r

Press Y to schedule it on next reboot

Restart the PC and after chkdsk scan finishes try to boot into safemode

Hi, I just posted this problem in another forum, and I'm afraid to run that last program since if my computer locks up I can't start it in safe mode. Thanks for your help.

Sorry I didn't see your last post when I said I had moved the topic to another area of the forum. I tried the chkdsc command and it said the volume was clean. I still can't get into safe mode.
