Hi all,

I have a 3 year old Dell intel core 2 duo with windows seven ultimate 64-bit

I connect either wired or wirelessly to an Asus RT-n13u router via a broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter (wireless) or (wired) Intel 82567LM-3 Gigabit Network Connection

We have Charter cable internet.

results.txt

---

The problem I'm encountering is intermittent lag spikes among all internet processes (gaming/browsing/whatever). Sometimes I will play a game and get between 200 and 2000 ping for 20 minutes to an hour, while my buddies connected to the same router have nice low latency.

This problem cropped up over the last week or so. A cleaning with MSE and MBAM didn't help. I wanted to see if this problem would crop up in safe mode but it's hard to pin down since it's intermittent. Earlier today i pinged google.com and got average 300 ping with 4% packet loss. Later today it has been fine, but i can't game to my heart's content for fear of this lag.

---

Extra Credit: my network icon in the system tray has been showing a disconnected (red'x') symbol... for months, even though i'm clearly connected :). I tried googled solutions to this in good faith but all to no avail. Please help fix my internet-impaired computer.
