Hello,
I recently formatted my computer, (3 times) because I suspected that I had a virus that wouldn't let me on the internet. I ran CCleaner before I reformatted and let it fix all the problems found in the registry. (Now I am regretting that I done this because I didn't know what I was doing). I done a backup of what it fixed but when I reformatted the computer after, I didn't save it on my memory stick. Now I am still having problems getting on the computer. Everytime that I open IE I get an error message that it needs to shut down.
AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.2180 ModName: mshtml.dll
ModVer: 6.0.2900.2180 Offset: 0007f44d

I have searched Microsoft and it had some information and the article stated to update to the latest updates and this should fix the problem, but when I try to update my computer, it goes to a not available screen and won't let me update.

I have already had a post in the Am I affected area of this forum and had someone to help me. We done several different steps and concluded that I don't have a virus or malware on the computer at this time and he suggested that I post in the XP forum. Hopefully someone can help me fix my computer.

Thank you for your time
Operating System Information
Windows XP Professional 32-bit, Service Pack 2 (Build 5.01.2600)

Download Internet explorer 8

http://download.microsoft.com/download/C/C/0/CC0BD555-33DD-411E-936B-73AC6F95AE11/IE8-WindowsXP-x86-ENU.exe

Install it and let us know if IE works

Do you have issues with windows updates after running DIAL-A-fix?

Ok, I tried to run it and I got this error message:

c:WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe is not a calid Win32 application.

When I first tried to download the program, I clicked on the link and then it opened up a new page and it said:
Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

So I tired a second time with right click save as and it downloaded. Not sure if this means anything but thought I would mention it to you.

I did, sorry I forgot to add the \ in my post but I did in the run command. The box comes up to run the program, but when I try to run it, it comes up with that error still.

1. I right clicked saved as on the link you provided and saved the program in C drive on my computer.
2. I Clicked Start, and then click Run.
3. I tyed in C:\WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe /wuforce and then click OK
4. A box came up and has run or cancel button on it. I clicked run and got this message: c:\WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe is not a calid Win32 application.

Am I missing something or doing something wrong?
Thanks for your patience.

158 kb size and I can try clicking on it rather than trying to do it from the run command if you want me to.
