I used to be able to go on my Maxtor OneTouch 4 Plus external hard drive. Now for some reason it won't connect to my laptop. I have a acer with windows 7. It sometimes shows up on ly devices and printers, but won't show up on my computer. any ideas as to why it won't work anymore?

Does it work properly when connected to another working system?

If so...I suggest uninstalling all USB controllers (not hubs, not devices) and rebooting Windows.

Try using this link as it is applicable to Win 7 and vice versa(from external to internal). http://help.artaro.eu/index.php/data-recovery/recover-files-from-hard-disk.html#.UDg_DqPpzR8
