My aunt got a lap top, can't remember the name of it. It's running win7 64-bit.
When you press the power button, instead of turning off, it just goes into standby.

RB_Kandy,

The function of the power button can be changed in Power Options.

Start (orb) ->Control Panel -> (view by: large icons) -> Power Options.

I'm on a Vista laptop now because I'm travelling, so you may have to hunt a bit; however, on Vista, in the left column of Power Options is "Choose what the power buttons do."

In Windows 7, you may have to choose advanced options for the selected power plan, then scroll down looking for "power button" option and set it to "Shutdown."

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Brooks
