Please run the following:

Download Combofix from either of the links below, and save it to your desktop.
Link 1
Link 2
**Note: It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**
--------------------------------------------------------------------
IMPORTANT - Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link here
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it will produce a report for you.
  • Please post the C:\ComboFix.txt for further review.
NOTE: If you encounter a message "illegal operation attempted on registry key that has been marked for deletion" and no programs will run - please just reboot and that will resolve that error.

I ran ComboFix and saw it go through its scan and delete some files. Then it rebooted my PC. When I logged on, I could not find the C:\ComboFix.txt file. I tried to run ComboFix again and it delete the icon off my desktop. I redownloaded the file and tried again. This time it ran the scan, etc. and then rebooted my PC again. AFter logging on, I received a message that it couldn't find an application to run "CF16409.3XE". I noticed the file is in the C:\ComboFix folder. I still do not have a C:\Combofix.txt file.
Please advise as to next steps. Thanks much!

Please delete the copy of ComboFix that you have on your desktop and download a fresh copy, now boot into safe mode to run it, make sure your security programs are disabled or they will interfere.

To boot into safe mode, reboot and tap F8 repeatedly on startup until an option menu appears
arrow up to "safe mode with networking" the hit enter.

Same thing happened where it rebooted my machine, and told me it couldn't find an application to run CF16409.3XE. I hit cancel 2 times to get beyond the error. The combofix.txt file did generate this time. It was not in the root C:, but in C:\Combofix\ folder. It's attached.
Thanks.

    • If TDLFS File System/TDSS File system is found then ensure Cure is selected (if cure is not available, choose skip)
    • Then click Continue > Reboot now
  • Copy and paste the log in your next reply
    • A copy of the log will be saved automatically to the root of the drive (typically C:\)

that looks better,

just a couple more scans to make sure there are no leftovers

please do the following:

  • Please open your MalwareBytes AntiMalware Program
  • Click the Update Tab and search for updates
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish, so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. <-- very important
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.

Extra Note:If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process, if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

NEXT
