I recently tried to install microsoft money deluxe trial version 2008 directly downloaded from microsoft. Upon setup, the error message "autorun.inf is missing or corrupt" appears. After searching microsoft's forum for a solution and attempting it as well, the program no longer gives error message but instead self-terminates after extraction.
Microsoft's solution forum suggested entering the registry to rename a registry entry. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\IniFileMapping\Autorun.inf
I've attached a jpeg to show what I see on my screen.
I tried installing other programs (microsoft office enterprise 2007) at which I was installing a couple programs and it worked without fail.
In the download, there is no autorun.inf file (it is a single .exe file) I've also tried redownloading with the same outcome. This issue however continues with other versions of the program: Microsoft money sunset, including straight from CD (microsoft money 2005)
Outcome is still the same but it seems that this issue is only happening with microsoft money programs, and apparently a known issue. I'm not sure if this would've helped in anyway but previously before using microsoft's provided solution, my registry did say, "@SYS:Software\Swearware\dump" at which I deleted that value prior to approaching you with my dilemma
