Right..so I'm back...again. :(

This time its with my fairly recent build. Specs at the bottom.

A Possible important sidenote, I experienced a glitch with my copy of windows. Its been going for a while now
(since I installed it really), but for some reason I can't activate it. I called MS and after a short while (surprise there)
the lady on the line said she didnt know what was wrong (when I input my activation code, the window just closes) and said
she would send me a new copy. I've got the new copy but I really dont want to wipe my SSD...even unregestered, my copy
seems fine for gaming. If thats the issue (I really hope it is honestly..I dont want new hardware) then I'll wipe my
drive and install fresh....Just need to make a backup first.

I really want to blame the OS (obviously :P) for this one, but if you guys have any other ideas, that'd rock.
I've had the occasional Bsod but very recently its just been getting more and more common. I've got
an app called BlueScreenView and it seems most are related to the OS (ndis.sys; ntoskrnl.exe) but a
few aren't.

I can only attach my Top 5 (size I guess, all of em amount to 449k) but I can post the details to the rest
on the topic if desired (all 17 of em since April).

One thing I noticed is that it usually occurs if I stress the system (Playing Eve Online, or running seti@Home).
Really hoping its not a hardware issue :(

Specs:
i5 2570k @ 4.4Ghz
CM Hyper212
eVGA gtx680 Superclocked
ASUS Maximus V Gene
OCZ Agility 3 60gb (boot)
Seagate Barracuda 1tb
G Skill Ripjaws X (8gbx2)
Corsair tx750

Anything else needed, just ask away.

(Also, whats up with this: "Used 326.33K of your 512K global upload quota"?)

Try uninstalling RivaTuner/EVGA Precision/MSI Afterburner and see if that has any effect on the BSOD issue.

RTCore64.sys Tue Sep 06 22:24:50 2011

RTCore64.sys ... RivaTuner/EVGA Precision/MSI Afterburner (known issues w/Win7)

http://www.sysnative.com/drivers/driver.php?id=RTCore64.sys
The last 3 minidumps are virtually identical:

BUGCHECK_STR: 0x1E_0
ERROR_CODE: (NTSTATUS) 0 - STATUS_WAIT_0
ExceptionCode: c0000005 (Access violation)

Zip up the remaining minidumps and upload the zip file to a file sharing website of your choice and provide me with a link to access it.
  • I will have a look at all of them to see if I can get a better idea of what the problem is likely to be.
====================================================

The BC forums will allow a total upload/attachment size of only 512kb for each member:
  • You may visit your Settings > Manage Attachments page and remove any/all existing attachments, which will give you the space to upload attachments in the future.
  • Using an image hosting website such as Posted Image is a better way to post images in the forum:
    • If you enclose the hosted image URL in image tags it will display in-topic.
      [img]<URL of hosted image>[/img]
  • Using a file hosting website such as Posted Image or Posted Image overcomes the size limitation for other file-type attachments.
    • Include a link to the hosted file(s) in your post so that others can access it.
To manage your attachments, look at the top right-hand side of the page you are currently reading:
  • Beside your user-name to the right-hand side, you will see a small downward-facing arrow, which if you hover your mouse-pointer over it, will show Your Profile.

    Posted Image
  • Click on it, to see a drop-down menu.
  • Click on "My Settings".
  • Click on "Manage Attachments".

    Posted Image
  • On the right-hand side, put checkmarks in the small boxes beside each of the attachments you wish to remove.
  • Click on "Delete Selected" in the lower right-hand side corner to remove the attachments.
  • You will now have more space (up to 512kb allowed size) to upload future attachments.

Well darn. I've had eVGA precision running since I setup the PC, but if you think its the issue, no problem.

I also got another bluescreen which followed the same pattern one from yesterday did. Windows reported that seti@home stopped working and bam, bsod. I've included that one in the ZIP as well.

Thanksyou verymuch for the very ncie guide, but I've chosen to simply delete all attachments and upload a single full zip. There are now 19 of em :(

Gah! Dopey me forgot the attachment, sorry.

Thank you: That was a tight squeeze and you just got them in under the 512kb limit!

:thumbsup2: Good: Now I have the recent minidumps! The 5 you uploaded earlier were the oldest ones.

I will have a look at them and get back to you.

Oh wow, sorry about that then..another mistake on my end haha.

Well I was hoping to keep eVGA Precision so I updated it and ran Eve online. It worked for
a while but then it bsod'd again. I now have it uninstalled and will run 2 clients now (It usually
crashed the quickest with 2 running, or having seti in the background) and we'll see if I need to
report anything.

Thanks again :)

Let's make sure that the memory checks out OK: The variety if errors that are shown over the 19 available minidumps leads me to suspect a possible hardware memory problem. While I am debugging the crash dumps, get started on testing the memory as soon as convenient for you.

There are 2 x 8GB sticks of RAM in the machine:
  • Test each stick individually, one-at-a-time.
  • Remove both sticks, and then replace one of the sticks, in the motherboard slot closest to the CPU ensuring that it is firmly in-place.
  • Run memtest86+ on that stick for 24 hours (unless you see an error reported before-hand, in which case stop the test).
  • Remove the first stick and put the second stick in the same motherboard slot, and run memtest86+ on that stick for 24 hours.
Let me know the result of testing each stick individually in the same slot.
===============================

Test the memory (RAM).
  • Run memtest86+ for a minimum of 24 hours for a reliable result if no errors are reported before-hand.
Memory needs to be tested outside of Windows, so memtest86+ is run from a bootable CD.

:step1: To make a bootable CD with memtest86+:
  • Extract the downloaded zip file:
    • Right-click on the zip file and choose Extract all. (Windows XP ... other Windows versions may have different wording.)
The contents of the zip file (the .ISO image file) will be extracted to a folder in the same location as your zip file.
  • Burn the .ISO image to CD: If you do not already have a suitable burning program for writing .ISO images to disc ...
    • Download and install ImgBurn.
    • Ensure that you UN-check the box agreeing to install the Ask toolbar during the installation.
    • Place a new (blank) CD disc in the drive tray.
    • Choose Write image file to disc.
    • Under Source, click on the Browse button: Navigate to and select the .ISO file that you wish to burn.
    • Place a check-mark in the box beside Verify.
  • Click Posted Image
  • When the CD has been burned and verified as successful, it will be bootable.

:step2: Boot from the newly created CD.
  • You may need to configure BIOS or the Boot Menu to boot first from the CD.
  • memtest86+ will begin running automatically: You need do nothing else at this time.
  • Allow memtest86+ to run un-interrupted.
See the screenshots in this informative link: Diagnose with Memtest86+

There MUST be NO errors what-so-ever:
  • If you see an error, stop the test.
  • Then proceed to test each stick of RAM separately to sort the good from the bad.
A minimum test for some confidence in the result, should be 7 full passes (each "pass" is a series of different types of tests), with NO errors.
  • Allow memtest86+ to run for 24 hours for maximum confidence in the test result.
memtest86+ will continue running until you stop it:
  • Press the <ESCAPE> key to re-boot the computer, removing the memtest86+ CD.

Well here is another issue that's arisen. I cant seem to get memtest to run. I've followed
your link to the memtest site and got the newest version for USB sticks (don't like disks
much anymore).

I ran the installer (told it to format my usb stick)and rebooted. Instead of memtest
popping up, windows appeared to be booting. After about 7sec it would freeze. I had to
do a hard restart to get back into windows.

I thought maybe the usb installer had an issue so I grabbed the disk version. I switched
the boot priorities to DVD first (all I had on hand were dvds) and proceeded to reboot
with the disk in. Now after POST I get a blinky underscore for about a minute and windows
proceeds to boot like nothing had happened. Then chrome crashed and I bluecreened :(

Tomorrow I've got a buddy coming over (originally we were supposed to game, but we'll
work on hardware instead I guess). I'll just pull a stick out at a time and see if I still bluescreen.

Sorry, I probably shouldn't write essays.

EDIT: I randomly turned the PC on and bam, it booted off the disk...I'm thinking my dvd drive might
be having issues... Gah..so much spend on a PC and it looks like QC is sleeping on the damn job!

Will let it run over night and post results. It is using BOTH sticks atm and it goes through ranges
using all 16gb of memory.

Alright well there it is. Finished 7 passes in 17:20...hope that's good enough. It was with
both sticks in though...hope that's also alright :3

Edit: Well..I can run a single client of Eve online perfectly fine..but it seems when I try to run a second client, things start to crash (most often Chrome and Eve) and eventually I'll bsod :(

Symptom is repeatable.

It seems like a video card issue doesn't it?

Edit2: On occasion I'll open a second client and it'll crash within 15 seconds.

Alright, heres an update.

At the moment, I've got Two Eve clients open, along with chrome and an HD video. Seems the problem all but disappeared (fingers crossed? Doubt it).
Had a bit of a scary moment when chrome crashed (leads me to think not all is fixed), but everything is stable now. Not exactly sure whats going on :\

Things I think might be at fault are Video card and PSU maybe...Though I do live in NYC, maybe a drop in line voltage could cause it?

Sorry if its no longer a Windows issue...if it helps, perhaps you could move it to the hardware section.

After 17 hours of memtest86+, for now we can assume that the memory is likely to be OK.

... I experienced a glitch with my copy of windows. ...... I've got the new copy but I really dont want to wipe my SSD...even unregestered, my copy seems fine for gaming. If thats the issue ... then I'll wipe my drive and install fresh....

Here's the rub: The Windows system is not fully updated and does not have Service Pack 1.
  • Most BSOD analysts will not even bother looking for a problem on a Windows 7 system that does not have at least Service Pack 1 installed.
  • To continue trouble-shooting the system in its current state is not advisable, and may well turn out to be a waste of time and effort.
  • To overcome this, I guess you have two choices:
  • Update the current (problematic) installation.
  • Perform a clean installation of Windows now, and update it.
You can then legitimately get serious about using and testing the system and then analysing any issues that may arise.
My preferred suggestion would be a clean installation of Windows, fully updated as the first priority.

Sorry if its no longer a Windows issue..

I see no reason to particularly suspect anything other than a Windows system problem at this stage, although the single STOP 0x24 error causes immediate concern about the hard drive and the STOP 0x101 errors cause some concern about the CPU. At this stage it's an open field of suspects. I have debugged about half of the newer minidumps that you uploaded and they are similar to, and no more helpful than the first 5 minidumps that I looked at.

If you choose to go ahead with a clean installation as I have suggested you do, and continue to encounter the same or a similar problem, then get back to this topic or start a new topic and send me a PM.

Very well, I'll wipe out my current install after I come home from work.

As a side note, is there anyway to, after the reinstall, to restore the minor things like my all programs folder or my quick launch links?
I have all my stuff on the 1tb harddrive (most of it anyway), along with most of my user data.

Thanks for all the Help AustrAlien :)

I don't know whether you can simply copy them to your new installation, or you will need to set them up anew ... and I am not familiar enough with the kind of setup you might be using to even hazard a guess.

I just have windows on an SSD and mostly everything else on a 1tb storage drive.

Its cool, I'll figure it out as I go. Thanks for all the help, I'll report back if anything changes.

Alright, I've reinstalled Windows. I still need to work on getting all my settings into the shape I want,
but things seem to work. I let windows update do its thing and it's basically empty now.

Heres the problem. Applications seem to randomly crash.
A game called Aion will crash only after login and character
selection. Game reports nv3ddum.dll as the culprit. (gpu problem?)
Eve Online only crashes when two clients are up. (Makes me thing gpu again)
Google Chrome will crash rarely upton startup, but never after.
The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim runs fine, no problems. (Rules out gpu?)

I don't even know where to start here. If it helps, when Aion crashes, it reports nv3ddum.dll as the fault.

So now I haven't got any bluescreens...just that I can't seem to do the things I want.

Sorry to bugger you again, but I'm now completely clueless. Maybe I should just pop some memory out and
see what happens.

Edit: Tested both RAM sticks individually (Not memtest, just used Windows experience index..it crashed every time.) I noticed
that I had my RAM in the wrong slots. (A1 and B1.. Manual says A2 and B2. Sadly, this didn't change a single thing)

Also something to note, I can't finished the Windows experience index. Infact, every time I do,
it crashes at the same point. Direct3D 10 Texture test. Hope that helps anything
