We have a Windows 2003 Server here and in the event viewer I see a terminal services error with event id 1111. The printer drivers are properly installed. Do we need to pay attention to this error or is it safe to ignore it.

This event ID occurs when you (or someone else) connects via RDP (terminal services) and tries to map a printer into the rdp session which the server has no driver for. You can just disable printer mapping while connecting to the server, use the universial driver or install the requiered device driver on the server.
