I have Windows Me and Word 2000. Every time I click on the Word icon, my computer freezes up.I have done Sysstem Restore to no avail, and I have uninstalled Word 2000 and reinstalled it three times and still can't access Word. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Welcome to BC. You could always try Open Office as a subsitute. It is compatible with ALL MS Office applications and verisons. You can create and modify Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access. Just an option.
My question was more about how much RAM you have, not how much free disk space is available or how the swap file is set up (in regards to the latter, it is probably best to check the box, let Windows manage......). Could you try to open Word in "safe mode" and see what happens?
