I upgraded my ddr ram from 128 to 512mb, would it be safe, useful or even good to put the 128 ddr back in the slot behind the 512? possable jumping me up to 640?

Go ahead and give it a try. It should not 'hurt' anything. But it may not work, depends on several factors.

Are they both the same DDR speed? IE, PC 3200 or ?

Put the larger stick in slot 0.
