remote access

is it possible to remotely access a external hard drive with a usb port? i would like to be able to remotely connect to the hard drive to access my files, but yet limit the people on the network to it. so encryption/password protection would be needed as well. any ideas on if this is possible or not, and if so, how i can do this?

Good Evening

Yes it possible you can share that drive to only your user name to access it

Just connect it up like normal to the host machice

Right Click the External Drive go to properties hit sharing

Go to advance Sharing

Check Share this Folder

Limit the number of simultaneous uses to: 1 (default is 20)
Go to Permission under the comments
Remove the existing user
Click Add
Add your user name and hit ok
Permissions to be set is Username
Check Full control
and hit apply
hit ok
