My computer is infected with Live Security Platinum fake antivirus and i'm following the removal instructions listed here on the site: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-live-security-platinum

I downloaded and ran fixexec, and now I'm instructed to uninstall Live Security Platinum from Control Panel as if I were just uninstalling any other program however, when I right-click on Live Security Platinum and select "Uninstall/Change" (also when i double click), I get a quick waiting circle animation on my cursor and then nothing. Live Security Platinum still remains listed in my programs.

On the guide it says on step 10:
"If you cant find the entry to uninstall, or when it is done uninstalling, please continue with the next step."

and i was unsure what "find the entry" was about so i continued to the next steps and am now running a full system scan using Malwarebytes.

Will Malwarebytes completely remove the malware and nothing else is needed?

Hi,

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here or here or here.
Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds file to run the tool.
  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
    • DDS.txt
    • Attach.txt
  • Save both reports to your desktop. Post them back to your topic.
