Not yet. Could it just be a software issue?

We have the same laptop model most likely a HP G6 series, but more likely I would borrow one if you can just to rule out the problem.

Well if the computer only locks up when your WiFi card is active, I would suggest updating your Wifi drivers.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=5186401#N334

On that link, scroll down and expand "Driver - Network". Choose the first one "Ralink 2011 802.11 b/g/n WiFi adapter" that was posted on 2012-06-06. Download the .exe file on the next page and install.

If this doesn't work, download Mini Toolbox and mark the items listed in this thread. Post your results.

Please check your Hosts Content. Go to Drive C: - Windows - System 32 - drivers - etc - hosts (if required to open with, use notepad). Copy-paste the result here. A sample/default hosts content for windows is found in this link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972034 To reset the hosts is also given if contents are different from specified. Try also using obtain DNS server automatically by going to your wireless adapter, TCP/IPv4 properties.

#Copyright © 1993-2006 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
#      102.54.94.97     rhino.acme.com          # source server
#       38.25.63.10     x.acme.com              # x client host

# localhost name resolution is handle within DNS itself.
#       127.0.0.1       localhost
#       ::1             localhost
74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com

I already changed it and it's back to default with no Internet currently it's still acting all screwed up

Do you have hardware diagnostics for the laptop? I would start going to that route as of now.

I believe it to be more than just a network issue as it crashes no matter what even in safe mode..

Having system crashes in safemode would lead to a hardware problem initially. Check all available hardware test for your computer and run them to see if they passes.
