I recently had to reinstall windows due to my computer crashing. Upon reinstalling everything I tried to access both msconfig and regedit under the search box in the start menu. When it does this it says "No items match your search". What could be the problem? Everything else is running perfectly and I know I have no viruses or malware. Please help.

Hello and Welcome -
Just to help us basically check your system, please follow these directions, and Copy / Paste the results exactly as they appear in the Result.txt
Please download MiniToolBox, Save it to your desktop and run it.

Checkmark the following boxes:

•Flush DNS
•Report IE Proxy Settings
•Reset IE Proxy Settings
•Report FF Proxy Settings
•Reset FF Proxy Settings
•List content of Hosts
•List IP configuration
•List last 10 Event Viewer log
•List Installed Programs
•List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
•List Minidump Files

Click Go and post the result (Result.txt). A copy of Result.txt will be saved in the same directory (Desktop) the tool is run.

Note: When using "Reset FF Proxy Settings" option Firefox should be closed.

Thank You -

Hi chump0 -
First Thing - Can you please Delete this program Advanced SystemCare 5 (Version: 5.2.0) as it will cause registry problems.
Next can you tell me if you use Internet Explorer 8 or 9 as your default internet browser, or another one also ??

Since you have re-installed your Operating System, have you been able to do, or have you done, any regular Microsoft Updates
There are several updates listed as Failed or not installed, and the list of some of these are below >>
KB2686831
KB2604115
KB2544521
KB2703157
KB2598845
These include Security updates as well as general program updates - If you would like help with these, please ask.

Thank You -
Quick Edit - Please download and install Malwarebytes Free and run a Quick Scan only -
