What options does a computer-illiterate artist have when her work-horse gets a major infection right before a critical deadline?
Let me tell you; not that many! So when a last desperate web-search brought me to BleepingComputer-world, I first couldn't believe how brilliant a project/community it is (-- and then had to immerse myself into the forum history for a bit, so that I could pen a half-intelligent help request.)
Long story told short, my case was taken by a wonderfully kind Malware Study Hall Senior, KarstenHansen; and in the course of a few days, his diligent work brought my computer back from the land of the dead.
This process could well have been a very stressful experience for me, but his gentility, good humour and efficiency made being infected (at the worst possible time) almost a pleasure!?!
Throughout this time I also had a chance to become more familiar with BleepingComputer and how it operates; and have come to admire its spirit, its diversity and the all-around, human (read non-robotic) effectiveness of its system.
I would like to give my thanks to not only Karsten and his mentor, but also to all who have taken part in creating and sustaining this fantastic eco-system.
I will be very happy to remain a member of this inspiring community.
