Hello -

I've been disinfecting my system for two days, and I finally reached step #9. It instructs me to download the "Hijackthis" program. I downloaded as per the instructions, but after I "unzip" and close, I go back to the desktop to "double click" to run the program it takes me back to, "Figure 5" and does not open. I've tried to "Unzip" again and it states, "Unzipped," but still will not open. I've deleted it and downloaded it again and the same thing happens.

Please advise what I should do, I am very much looking forward to resolving my computer's issues.

Thank you for you time and consideration.

Hi there,

It looks like you are reopening the extractor. Let's see if HijackThis is actually installed yet. Click start > run > then type:

hijackthis

....press enter.

Let me know if HJT loads.

Nope, doesn't work...

It comes back with, "windows cannot find hijackthis."

Shouldn't someone else try to see if the link is working?

Patiently await your reply.

thanks.

The link is working fine.....Please try these alternative instructions:

Hi my name is David Posted Image

Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
  • Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
  • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the "Select Addition Tasks" dialogue.
  • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
  • Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
  • At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Let me know if you can get it to work now....
David

Hi David, Lisa here -

Thanks that worked. I've got the log up and will post on the hijackthis board.

I appreciate your help.
