While EMET may work to some extent on a single home user machine, it was not intended for that purpose. EMET is used for application hardening, a security feature designed to prevent exploitation of various types of vulnerabilities in software applications. Critical applications that need hardening are Web servers, email servers, DNS servers, etc which are used in an enterprise environment.

EMET v3 is designed to protect software from the vulnerability, by opting latest security mitigation technology. Home users may face problem while using it, as it has high-level features. It is designed for the enterprises. Application compatibility risk is there with the security mitigation technologies that EMET uses. For overcome this specific mitigation can be individually enable or disable.
