I hope this isn't a dumb question, but I was wondering how secure is the internet connection with an iPhone4? I am thinking about using it for just my online banking and private information. What is the possibility of someone eavesdropping on my internet connection? I mean my information is transmitted for a few miles right? Is it encrypted?

Use the same precautions you would use with a computer. Just because it is an iphone does not mean your financial transactions are automatically encrypted. You still need to ensure how you're connecting to the Internet. The phone still uses a regular browser like a computer.

My main question is, is my iphone's internet connection AS safe as my DSL internet connection? Thank you.

I don't know how 'safe' you feel your DSL is? I don't know how much security you have installed with your DSL. Plain and simple as I said in the beginning your phone is accessing the Internet use accepted safe surfing practices.

Me personally, I don't trust any Internet connection and use as much security as available with each device.
