To uninstall the Searchnu from Computer

1: Click on Start Menu and Click on Control Panel, and then:

2: On Windows Vista or Windows 7, go to "Uninstall Programs" under "Programs and Features ":

In XP it is Add/Remvoe Programs.

3: Select the Searchnu you wish to uninstall from the list and click "Uninstall":

4: Follow the steps of the uninstaller application:

To uninstall the Searchnu from Firefox

1: On the Menu Bar, go to "Tools" -> "Addons":

2: Select the Searchnu you wish to uninstall from the Extensions list - then click "Uninstall":

3: When prompted to do so, restart Firefox:

After this if you are still see the Searchnu

Press on Windows Key and R key together on the keyboard
Now you will get a Run Window. Inside the Run window Type REGEDIT and press on Ok.
Now you can see a Registry. (Be Care Full While using registry)

Do note that editing the registry incorrectly may cause your computer to become unusable.

Got to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Searchnu and delete Searchnu
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Searchnu and delete Searchnu

And restart the computer. Now it will be gone.

Don't Forgot to change your home page to www.google.com after this fix

Enjoyyyyyyyyyyy

Or change it to whatever you prefer.

If you are uncomfortable editing the registry DO NOT ATTEMPT IT.

If you DO want to edit BACK UP the registry first by using ERUNT which can be downloaded from here http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/erunt/

There wasn't anything in 'programs", there was one in Firefox. I deleted it. Hope that will solve the issue. Thank you all very much!!!

Great - :thumbup2:
Always post back to this topic if there are further problems, and keep your Antivirus / Antimalware programs updated -
You may also want to use SuperantiSpyware Free as it has helped a few with this problem

Interesting. I see now that searchnu isn't really a true hijacker. It got on my computer when I installed Ilivid viewer. The installer program modified Chromes' start page setting, thus acting like a hijacker. Malwarebytes blocked the site that it was pointing to, with the message that it could be a malicious site, or words to that effect. It turned out I didn't need the Ilivid viewer, so I deleted it, but of course, deleting the viewer did not change the settings in Chrome. All of this had me convinced that I had some terrible, horrible, awful hijacker virus thingie infecting the deepest, darkest corners of my computer! Sigh of relief! Thank you all very much!
