Hi all, Noobie here, wdfmgr.exe shows up in taskmanager, in the startups section of this sight it shows up as definitely a worm, but in other sights it says its part of Media Player 10, how can you tell for sure?

Upload the file to one or the other of these sites and multiple AV engines will give you their opinion if it's a worm or not.

Welcome Varoom

Let me explain why you are finding conflicting information.

The valid wdfmgr.exe [Windows User Mode Driver Manager] is part of Windows Media Player 10, is located in C:\Windows\system32\, and runs as a service.
See: http://castlecops.com/modules.php?name=O23&query=wdfmgr.exe

The bad wdfmgr.exe is added by the W32/Agobot-TB worm, uses the name MS_Update Check and runs at startup.
See: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/

So depending on which database you have checked the results will be either good or bad.
