Hi everyone.
Found this site after my pc pickup something.
I am not really techie so I started to look for solution for my problem.
I described what happened to my pc and ended up here.
My pc lost lot files and shortcuts and unhide.exe was able to recover most of it.
But, I had deleted temp folder and now I need to learn how to get back my
start menu folder and so on.
Because they are still empty.
If you can send me to right direction, would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You Roger.
I will make sure I check out the topics.
I recover some of the files, malware bytes can't find anything anymore,
Seems like I got rid of the virus or whatever it was, but I am reading here and running tests...
I already found some helpful info here. So thanks :)

Try this for Vista and Windows 7, not in XP, sorry.

From here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic396425.html/page__view__findpost__p__2240646

1)Go to the startup icon
2)then put cursor over "All Programs" and right click and click on "open"
3) then select the "programs" folder and right click and select "properties"
4) then select the "previous version" tab, await the previous versions to show up and select the folder that existed prior to your problems and hit restore and follow through with prompts.

I just tested this on my Windows 7. Some things are there and others are not, better than nothing. I'm still searching for something else I saw.

Good Luck
Roger

And here is something else.

Unfortunately, it looks like you'll have restore everything manually.

You can restore the defaults for the Start Menu and Administrative Tools as follows:

Windows 7: Restore Default Shortcuts in Start Menu All Programs
Vista: Restore Default Shortcuts in Start Menu Programs
Restore the Administrative Tools folder with vista_ultimate_admintools.zip

or

There are a couple of methods for restoring some of the shortcuts.

Which ones are you missing?
