I recently reformatted my pc because it had issues and installed the xp operating system on it. After completing the lengthy process and after plugging in my internet cable i realized that it was not working. Is it because the necessary drivers are missing?(I put in the driver disk during the reformation process).

Thanks in advance

You need to install all drivers starting with the chipset driver. Look in device manager to see which device drivers are missing

The drivers will most likely be on the manufacturing support site. HP, Dell, Acer, Asus including the model and OS or you could post the computer model next time.
