Hi guys. I have had a problem for a couple of days.

Firstly I was getting this file recovery scan. It wanted me to buy a license but I know that there isn't a hard drive problem because windows loaded before this happened.

So I eventually did a system restore in safe mode and everything seemed ok but then I got the file recovery problem again about 24 hours later. I again did a repair and then went about getting other virus things to try and find the root of my problems but to no avail unfortunately. I then started noticing another problem last night which was google acting really slow and I thought it was just a ping problem with my internet provider but then I clicked a link after a search on google and I got redirected to links that had nothing to do with where I wanted to go. One of the was called bidvertiser I think, there was one called cababes or sababes as well I think.

Anyways I started researching more about this and went to a couple of sites where advice was given. One of those sites told me to download ComboFix and run it. I did that but when the results came up I didn't know what to do with them. Eventually I found here and now I'm worried because it says here that I shouldn't have ran the program without advice.

So can anybody help me please? I have the results of the ComboFix scan if you want them.

Redo.

Next...
Re-run aswMBR from safe mode.

I tried to run aswMBR in safe mode just there and it does nothing. When I click on it it just brings up a run option and when I click it, it just disappears.

Please download GMER from one of the following locations and save it to your desktop:
  • Main Mirror
This version will download a randomly named file (Recommended)
  • Zipped Mirror
This version will download a zip file you will need to extract first. If you use this mirror, please extract the zip file to your desktop.
  • Disconnect from the Internet and close all running programs.
  • Temporarily disable any real-time active protection so your security programs will not conflict with gmer's driver.
  • Double-click on the randomly named GMER file (i.e. n7gmo46c.exe) and allow the gmer.sys driver to load if asked.
  • Note: If you downloaded the zipped version, extract the file to its own folder such as C:\gmer and then double-click on gmer.exe.

    Posted Image
  • GMER will open to the Rootkit/Malware tab and perform an automatic quick scan when first run. (do not use the computer while the scan is in progress)
  • If you receive a WARNING!!! about rootkit activity and are asked to fully scan your system...click NO.
  • Now click the Scan button. If you see a rootkit warning window, click OK.
  • When the scan is finished, click the Save... button to save the scan results to your Desktop. Save the file as gmer.log.
  • Click the Copy button and paste the results into your next reply.
  • Exit GMER and be sure to re-enable your anti-virus, Firewall and any other security programs you had disabled.

IMPORTANT! If for some reason GMER refuses to run, try again.
If it still fails, try to UN-check "Devices" in right pane.
If still no joy, try to run it from Safe Mode.

Sorry about the delay but it froze on me twice and then finally worked. Took a long time too.

Everytime I do a search on google(I use FF) I don't get any suggestion tips, the search takes at least 5 seconds to come up and then when I click on a link I get redirected to sites like the ones I mention above. I just did a search right now for BBC and when I clicked on BBC.co.uk I was taken to ibage.com and then onto mysweetdeals.org

Please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<== starting at Step 6. If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue.

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<== Please include a description of your computer issues, what you have done to resolve them, and a link to this topic.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.

It would be helpful if you post a note here once you have completed the steps in the guide and have started your topic in malware removal. Good luck and be patient.

If HelpBot replies to your topic, PLEASE follow Step One so it will report your topic to the team members.
