I'm not a real tech savvy person so forgive me if I'm clueless or not providing enough info.

It's been like this for a while now, at one point it took a while to start up. Like logging into the account, booting up was fine. It's just when logged in it gets slow. Then it continues to be slow loading everything up. It used to be it'd be slow for a while then eventually it'd get fast and there'd be no problems. It's the same thing now, except it's constntly slow (but tolerable, not so much video or music since it sounds REALLY glitchy) and will act normal for about 10 minutes max. Then it gets REALLY slow and glitchy, like the mouse cursor isn't smooth or anything and it nearly freezes. Is it an infection? I have SUper Anti Spyware free and Malware Bytes free, I've done quick and full scans but really nothing pops up except the adware.

I have an Acer laptop, WIndows 7, so if there's anything that could help me out I'd greatly appreciate it!

Hello -
For a start we can look for basic errors and any programs that may be causing this

Please download MiniToolBox, Save it to your desktop and run it.

Checkmark the following boxes:

•Flush DNS
•Report IE Proxy Settings
•Reset IE Proxy Settings
•Report FF Proxy Settings
•Reset FF Proxy Settings
•List content of Hosts
•List IP configuration
•List last 10 Event Viewer log
•List Installed Programs
•List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
•List Minidump Files

Click Go and post the result (Result.txt) back here. A copy of Result.txt will be saved in the same directory (desktop) the tool is run.

Note: When using "Reset FF Proxy Settings" option Firefox should be closed.

Next - Please download Farbar Service Scanner to desktop and run it on the computer.
•Make sure the following options are checked:
  • Internet Services
  • Windows Firewall
  • System Restore
  • Security Center
  • Windows Update
  • Windows Defender
•Press "Scan".
•It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory (desktop) the tool is run.
•Please copy and paste the log to your reply.

Also Publish a Snapshot using Speccy =<<Follow These Directions

Thank You -

For the MiniToolbox: (NOTE: when clicking on the IP configure, during the scanning it would freeze and not move past the the IP configuration. However I tried it without clicking that and it worked just fine.)

Hi -

This was the first thing that caught my eye as I scanned your Speccy report

Your Win7 Speccy = Motherboard - Acer Aspire 7741 (CPU 1): 74 °C This is overheating -

My XP Speccy = Motherboard - ASUSTeK Computer INC. P5B (Socket 775) 42 °C This is average

Note that my system has been on for about 12 hours today -

Also your CPU - Intel Pentium P6100 = Average Temperature: 75 °C

Do you have the computer in a dusty or confined area ?
Have you ever cleaned the inside of the computer ?

I am asking a few hardware people about these temperatures, and getting their opinions first (not my speciality)

Thank You for waiting -
EDIT - In the mean while, I would ask you to not use the computer unless it is 100% required -

I believe I got rid of the Babylon program, nothing remains of it from all the places it said. The problem is still there if that could have been the problem.

As for the ipconfig I tried it and it didn't seem to work. It says

"An error occurred while releasing interface Wireless Network Connection : An address has not yet been associated with the network endpoint.

No operation can be performed on Local Area Connection while it has its media disconnected.
"

I've tried it again and again and it doesn't change at all.

Yes, where I live it gets fairly dusty and I have noticed it getting hotter than usual. Even if I have a fan nearby blowing in the computers direction. However it DOES get up to over a 100degrees in my area so could that be the reason for the heating? And no I have not cleaned the inside of the computer in quite a while. I would like to but I'm not really sure as to how...without damaging something in the process.

I'll try to get a case for it, to keep it in when it's not in use to prevent it from getting too dusty in the future.

I am not talking about the future, I am talking about now. The overheating exists now and is your main current problem ! !
Your system has been dying, and you have seen this as a gradual slowing, until you decided that you needed to do something.
The computer MUST be cleaned out NOW, and even then, you may still be too late to repair the problem.

Babylon removal was just a quick fix for one of the now "minor" problems that you had, but I am more concerned about a fried motherboard -
If you continue to operate the computer at those running temperatures you will not have a system left at all.

I am now on my Windows7 laptop, and mostly I am reading mid 40's for all items with Speccy, Speed Fan, and other methods.
Your local outside temperature may get to 100 F, but that is only high 30C and no more, we are talking over double that temperature.

The slowing is your motherboard/CPU overheating well beyond its reasonable operating temperature, and it will melt if it gets any hotter.

Please advise us as to any further steps you wish to take. and if you are just cleaning or replacing the motherboard

Thank You -

I have tried to gain access to the inside of the computer to clean the motherboard and the fan. I have taken out the screws located on the bottom of the computer and still can't open the bottom to get into the inside of the computer. Can you provide any suggestions or guides on how to gain access to clean it out?

Hi -
Can you please post back with the exact model of Acer laptop, and I will try to find an online manual
Some of them come apart with just 4 or 5 screws, while others need a bit more -

Thanks -

The workshop manuals will not show Full details on removal of the base, only details of the outside. You would need to purchase one from a dealer.
This ImgShack link above should be the base of your computer - From what I see ALL areas need to be removed from the base, bit by bit.
Where it points to 3, 4 and 5, you will need to remove all these panels too, (and battery) as it is to the Hard Disk that will be clogged with dust also.

Do not use a High Pressure compressor to blow out these areas, only compressed "canned air" from a shop, or a VERY low pressure blower.
You will also need a small brush set (like artists paint brushes) to dust the area out, and then re-blow it again.

If any of these panels will not come off, it is due to having dust and moisture setting like "Rock" around the rim of the seals.
The absolute last thing we try to point you to is a repair shop, but you must understand that we can not reach the computer from here.........

See how you go over the weekend (carefully) and post back with any more questions .......

Regards -
