Hi there! Would appreciate any help with ridding my system of multiple (?) viruses. I am using Windows 7, Firefox, Windows Firewall and had Avast Free Antivirus when I first noticed the virus. I believe I got it when what I think was a Java notice on my screen asking if I wanted to install it on my hard drive, I clicked yes, my Antivirus gave me a warning & my system restarted. After going back online, Avast kept warning me that it was blocking malicious sites. I did a scan and it found no infection. I then ran the Windows Safety scan which showed I had Trojan:DOS/Alureon.A and it partially deleted it. After reading various posts on the subject I tried the TDSSkiller, which appeared to work but another scan showed I now had win32/alureon.fo . I again used the tdsskiller & read from some post to look for a partition, but found none. These "Alureons" seem to be removed, then come back. I have run malwarebytes, removed Avast & installed Microsoft Essentials. At times these scanners say 0 threats found but today showing quarantined are: windows\svchost.exe (2) and more alureon.gen! which I accidentally deleted these from my essentials history. Computer is acting fine. Thanking you in advance!!

I don't see anything malicious.

What program does actually discover anything malicious?
What files and in what locations?

I seem to be getting them out of nowhere after my initial infection of trojan:dos/alureon.a on 07/15/12 detected by Microsoft Safety Scanner. Partially removed & seemed to be completely removed by tdsskiller.

then on 07/15/12, scanned with microsoft malicious tool removal & found win32/alureon.fo, partially removed and again used tdsskiller.

then ran malwarebytes scan:

07/15/12 9:05pm Malwarebytes- C:\Users\Main\AppData\Local\Temp\install_flash_player.exe (Trojan.Downloader) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.
C:\Windows\svchost.exe (Trojan.Agent) -> Delete on reboot.

07/15/12 10:16pm C:\Windows\svchost.exe (Trojan.Agent) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.

This morning Kaspersky Security Scan noted 5 malware, did not write them down and they were gone after Windows Essential scan
which found (2) win32/alureon.gen! (not exactly sure whole names (which were different), I clicked on remove threat and accidentally erased it in history)

Not sure why I am having so many viruses showing up, not downloading anything or visiting many websites. I have never had a virus before I found that alureon.a

It looks like more advanced scans are needed.

Please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<== starting at Step 6. If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue.

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<== Please include a description of your computer issues, what you have done to resolve them, and a link to this topic.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.

It would be helpful if you post a note here once you have completed the steps in the guide and have started your topic in malware removal. Good luck and be patient.

If HelpBot replies to your topic, PLEASE follow Step One so it will report your topic to the team members.
