Through Firefox I went to a website I have frequently been to. I got a warning that the site has been hacked and did more reading to find out the site could be clean and it just hadn't been reported to Firefox yet. Since I saw a bunch of people on a forum were currently going to this website, I figured it was clear. Boy was I wrong. This was before I went to bed. I went to bed asking the computer to defrag my hard drive and came back when I woke.
That is when I saw "Live Streaming Platinum" on the screen saying my computer is infected with basically everything. I tried to shut it down and uninstall it in control panel. Whenever I tell it to uninstall, it pops up the program again and starts scanning the system. I can't get rid of this program. I have ran Avira antivirus software and ended up with 145 warnings. I tried to copy the results into notepad, but notepad will not open. Neither will Microsoft word. I clicked Report, it did nothing. I saw a lot of files mentioning uninstalling programs. At the end I would get errors such as "Unsupported archive version" and also "invalid end of file."
I tried to run Malwarebytes, that didn't work, neither did Lavasoft and it wouldn't open my Firefox. Luckily I went straight to bed before I shut down Firefox, so I'm assuming this program has not been able to obtain any of my information that I would type into the browser to access my bank account or any account. I tried to start the system in Safe Mode, it refused and went back to windows and started loading "Live Security Platinum." I also unhooked the internet from the machine when I noticed this program, hoping it won't infect my computer more.
Now my computer is shut down and I don't know what to do. I did download the programs from this website onto a flash drive from the computer I am borrowing for the time being so I am ready to run any of the programs and report the log files, when I am told to do so. I'm not sure if I will be able to copy/paste the logs though, since I attempted to do so with the Avira results but notepad refused to open. I'm not sure what to do. Can anyone help? I promise to never go to a reported hacked site again. This is the only virus I have not been able to figure out and need all the help I can get.
update: I have tried several remedies and all that has been accomplished is deleting the shortcut. I have tried combofix, tdsskiller, fixexec, microsoft security essentials, Defogger and dds. I have also tried CCleaner and that's all I can remember off the top of my head.
