Hello,

This is a nasty log.

It's better to print out the next instructions or save it in notepad, because you also have to work in safe mode without networking support, so this page wouldn't be available then.
It is also important you don't miss a step and perform everything in the right order!!

* Go to start > controlpanel > software > add/remove programs and uninstall next programs:

CyberDefender AntiSpyware
<== this is a so called spyware remover with a bad reputation and present on the blacklist
Regifast
Surfsidekick
<== when uninstalling this, a window will open, asking you to enter a code. You'll find the code in the same screen. Then it will ask you to reboot afterwards. Please do so, because this is important.

* Please set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

* Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune to your desktop.
Do not use it yet.

Please download Ewido anti-malware ; it is a free version of the program.
  • Install ewido security suite
  • When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck..
    • Install background guard
    • Install scan via context menu
  • Launch ewido by double-clicking on the icon on your desktop.
  • The program will now open to the main screen.
  • When you run ewido for the first time, you may get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
  • You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
    • On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
    • Then click on Start Update.
  • The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
(the status bar at the bottom will display ("Update successful")
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.
ewido manual updates
Don't run it yet.

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

Hello,

This is indeed looking A LOT better, but not finished yet.
Now let's deal with Vundo. I didn't add it in my previous instructions yet to deal with it, because otherwise intructions may become confusing if there are so many, especially with all those different infections present.

Perform next first:

I see you are running Teatimer.
I suggest you to disable it because it can interfere with the changes you'll make on your system.
When everything is done and your log is clean again, you can enable it again.
If teatimer gives you a warning afterwards that some changes were made, allow this instead of blocking it.
How to disable TeaTimer during HijackThis Cleanup
Then, Download ResetTeaTimer.bat.
Double click ResetTeaTimer.bat to remove all entries set by TeaTimer.

Same goes for Microsoft Antispyware.
Open Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Click on Tools, Settings.
In the left pane, click on Real-time Protection.
Under Startup Options uncheck: Enable the Microsoft AntiSpyware Security Agents on startup (recommended).
Under Real-time spyware threat protection uncheck: Enable real-time spyware threat protection (recommended).
After you uncheck these, click on the Save button and close Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Right click on the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon on the taskbar and select Shutdown Microsoft AntiSpyware.

I also recommend you disable Spywareguard for now, because it may interfere and make the changes back undone.

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

O2 - BHO: Yvakt Class - {0DEADE31-9A37-48B2-921A-7825EA93D32A} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\wdc1n.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: WTLHelper Object - {BD6CD737-34E1-4864-8697-83EC081F1989} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\pmkjg.dll
O2 - BHO: RegiFastObj Class - {C67A62C7-A68D-484C-9617-880C1F70D3F7} - C:\PROGRA~1\RegiFast\RegiFast.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [gimmysmileys] C:\\gimmysmileys.exe
O20 - Winlogon Notify: pmkjg - C:\WINDOWS\System32\pmkjg.dll

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!

(don't worry if two entries in your log won't get fixed, this is normal, we'll deal with this right away)

Delete next files:

C:\Documents and Settings\JOE\Application Data\Sskknwrd.dll
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\vtutt.dll
C:\WINDOWS\uniq

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Put a check next to Run VundoFix as a task.
  • You will receive a message saying vundofix will close and re-open in a minute or less. Click OK
  • When VundoFix re-opens, click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
  • Turn your computer back on.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

Hello,

Yes you did it correctly.
Above hijackthislog looks clean.
An important thing, please update your sun Java, because that's how you got infected.
You can download it from here: http://www.java.com/en/download/windows_xpi.jsp

There is one thing I would like to check as well though, because above infections come in most cases with a hidden infection as well, so perform next:

Download and Save blacklight to your desktop.
F-Secure Blacklight: http://www.f-secure.com/blacklight/try.shtml
Double-click blbeta.exe then accept the agreement.
click > scan then > next,
You'll see a list of all items found.
Don't choose for rename yet! I want to see the log first, because legit items can also be present there...
There must be also a log on your desktop with the name fsbl.xxxxxxx.log (the xxxxxxx stand for numbers)
Post the contents of the log in your next reply.

Hi Joe,

Both logs look clean, which is good ofcourse.

To keep this clean in the future, I would suggest the following things:

Install Spywareblaster
SpywareBlaster doesn`t scan and clean for so-called spyware, but prevents it from being installed in the first place. It blocks the popular spyware ActiveX controls, and also prevents the installation of any of them via a webpage.

* Avoid illegal sites, because that's where most malware is present.
* Don't click on links inside popups.
* Don't click on links in spam messages claiming to offer anti-spyware software; because most of these so called removers ARE spyware.
* Download free software only from sites you know and trust. Because a lot of free software can bundle other software, including spyware.

Let your antispywarescanner(s) scan frequently and don't forget to update before.

And I do suggest you perform an online virusscan once in a while. (Housecall and/or Bitdefender). Because what one virusscanner can't find another one maybe can.
Also make sure that your virusscanner, the one that is installed on your system is always up to date!

Make sure your windows has the latest updates: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

Hello hello,

Computer is running normal again.
Yea, I do think this happened when I was clicking around and a pop up came up quick and I accidently clicked it...that's when everything went nuts.
I wanted to ask you...and make sure...do I re-enable teatimer and microsoft antispyware at this time?
Again Thank you for your help and your advice!!

Hi projoe,

Yes enable Teatimer and Microsoft antispyware again, forgot to tell you this.
In case it gives an alert just after reenabling it now, allow the changes instead of blocking it, because those are the changes you did (fixing in hijackthis). In case you tell teatimer and/or Microsoft antispyware to block the changes, it will set those entries back in hijackthis.
This is not a big issue since the related files are gone, will be just orphaned leftovers, but it's better not to have them. :flowers:

And glad I could help.
