Hello, can i ask how can i scan scan my computer using hijackthis properly? Everytime i scan my computer using this, this message (see in the attached file) always appears.

My friend told me that i can remove malwares from my computer using this by sending scan log files to the experts. But how can i send that log file if i cannot continue to scan because of this message appearing? Please help me.

Thanks in advance. :)

HijackThis is not providing accurate information for 64 bit systems.
In your case we need to see a DDS Log.
I would remove HijackThis using the Add/Remove Programs list.

Please download and run this DDS Scanning Tool. Nothing will be deleted. It will just give me some additional information about your system.

  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links if you no longer have it available. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explanation about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run.

Please just paste the contents of the DDS.txt log in your next post. DO NOT attach the log.

Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer!

I am HelpBot: an automated program designed to help the Bleeping Computer Staff better assist you! This message contains very important information, so please read through all of it before doing anything.

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

To help Bleeping Computer better assist you please perform the following steps:

***************************************************

Posted Image In order to continue receiving help at BleepingComputer.com, YOU MUST tell me if you still need help or if your issue has already been resolved on your own or through another resource! To tell me this, please click on the following link and follow the instructions there.

CLICK THIS LINK >>> http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/logreply/460166 <<< CLICK THIS LINK

If you no longer need help, then all you needed to do was the previous instructions of telling me so. You can skip the rest of this post. If you do need help please continue with Step 2 below.

***************************************************

Posted Image If you still need help, I would like you to post a Reply to this topic (click the "Add Reply" button in the lower right hand of this page). In that reply, please include the following information:

  • If you have not done so already, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.
  • A new DDS and GMER log. For your convenience, you will find the instructions for generating these logs repeated at the bottom of this post.
    • Please do this even if you have previously posted logs for us.
    • If you were unable to produce the logs originally please try once more.
    • If you are unable to create a log please provide detailed information about your installed Windows Operating System including the Version, Edition and if it is a 32bit or a 64bit system.
    • If you are unsure about any of these characteristics just post what you can and we will guide you.
  • Please tell us if you have your original Windows CD/DVD available.
  • Upon completing the above steps and posting a reply, another staff member will review your topic and do their best to resolve your issues.

Thank you for your patience, and again sorry for the delay.

***************************************************

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan again:

  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links if you no longer have it available. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explanation about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

Information on A/V control HERE

We also need a new log from the GMER anti-rootkit Scanner.

Please note that if you are running a 64-bit version of Windows, you should not bother creating a GMER log.

Please first disable any CD emulation programs using the steps found in this topic:

Why we request you disable CD Emulation when receiving Malware Removal Advice

Then create another GMER log and post it as an attachment to the reply where you post your new DDS log. Instructions on how to properly create a GMER log can be found here:

How to create a GMER log

As I am just a silly little program running on the BleepingComputer.com servers, please do not send me private messages as I do not know how to read and reply to them! Thanks!

Hi nightsinger :)
I will be handling your log to help you get cleaned up. Please give me some time to look it over and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

First I will need a totally new DDS log posted, the one you posted are 3 days old, and much can happen so therefore I will need that.

Best Regards,
Karsten

Hello, I would like to ask for a help because my computer seems infected by a malware. It became slow these past few days and it's getting worse. I tried to use the built-in Microsoft Essentials to scan my computer but it didn't detect any virus. I also used the AVG PC Tuneup 2011 to see if it can do something to increase the performance of my laptop but nothing happend. Instead, after a moment, when I run the AVG PC Tuneup again, the window of AVG PC Tuneup don't pop-up anymore even when it appears active in the taskbar. It seems like something is blocking it to show in my screen.
Another problem is that my programs in my laptop take too much time to open unlike before. And another problem is that I think that something infected my drivers like built-in bluetooth, built-in webcam, etc. I can't use them properly.
One example of my problems with these is when I'm using my built-in webcam. One time, when I'm video chatting with my friend through Skype, my friend told me that he can't see me in his screen even though I opened my cam and I can see myself in my Skype window unlike before that when I see myself in my screen, they should see me also in their own screen. That is one of the instances that made me think that my laptop is INFECTED BY A MALWARE.

I already used DDS to scan my computer and here is my DDS.COM log file:
DDS (Ver_2011-08-26.01) - NTFSx86
Internet Explorer: 8.0.7600.16385 BrowserJavaVersion: 1.6.0_31

Hi nightsinger :)
:welcome: to BleepingComputer.

My name is Karsten and I'll help you with the cleanup of malware from your computer.

Please be aware of the following:
  • Please complete all steps in the specified order.
  • Even if tools don't find malware, I want you to post the logfiles anyway.
  • Please copy and paste the logfiles directly into your posts. Please do not attach them unless you are instructed to do so.
  • Read the instructions carefully. If you have problems, stop what you were doing and describe the problems you encountered as precisely as you can.
  • Don't install or uninstall software during the cleanup unless you are told to do so.
  • If you can't answer for the next few days, please let me know. If you haven't answered within 5 days, I am assuming that you don't need help anymore and your topic will be closed.
  • I can not guarantee that we will find and be able to remove all malware. Formatting is usually faster and always the safest way.
  • If you decide to clean your PC, work with us until a team member tells you that you are clean.
  • As my first language is not English, please do not use slang or idioms. It could be hard for me to understand.
I would like to run combofix to make sure there is not something hiding that I do not see, please do the following:
We will begin with ComboFix.exe. Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

* Ensure you have disabled all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix. Use this if you have issues turning off Antivirus program.

Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply for further review.

Best Regards,
Karsten

Hi nightsinger :)
Have you run combofix yet? Are there any difference in behaviour of the PC from before up until now, after running combofix? Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply for further review.

Best Regards,
Karsten

Hi,

I ran the ComboFix just as you told me but it has been running AutoScan for about 12+ hours and it seems to be stucked in "Completed Stage_48". I don't know what to do if I'm going to reset it (by holding the power button down)/shutdown properly or not becuase any move that I will make might affect my computer's performance. Please help me. I'm still running the autoscan until now.

Hi,

I already rebooted my laptop due to the stuck-up of the autoscan of ComboFix to "Completed Stage_48" thing (as I have said previously). Now, what I see is that the desktop background of my laptop returned to its default (by the way, I'm using Oceanis Change Background program to change my desktop wallpaper because my OS is just Windows 7 Starter which cannot change wallpaper). Another thing that I saw that changed is that the USB Guard is not responding when I turned on my laptop. Since it is not responding, I terminated it. Is it okay to re-run again the ComboFix? So that I can give you my log file that you required me? I don't know what to do now. I'll be shutdown my laptop for now while waiting for your reply to know if what I'm gonna do next. Thank you.

Hi Karsten. :)

Sorry about last time for being hasty. I just wanted to update you everything that happend when I ran the combofix and got stucked.

The last time I ran the combofix, the autoscan was stucked on "completed stage_48". After that, I closed the blue window, and tried to restart it. The things that changed/happend were:
-the background always return to its default everytime I turn on the laptop (Windows 7 Starter) even if I set another background using the Oceanis Change Background W7 before I shutdown the laptop.

-there was once an error to the USB Disk Security the time I restarted my laptop after I cancelled the autoscan of Combofix. But it is now running properly and I don't know if it will happen again.

-when I chat with my friends using skype, when I turn on the webcam, I thought it was running properly because I can see my video output on my screen but my chatmates said that they cannot see me from their screen even if my cam is turn on; and

-I did not see any logs in the C: drive.

These were the things that changed that I can report you so far.

Is it okay if I rerun the ComboFix again to have the log that you required me? I'm just worrying if it might affect my laptop by rerunning it again for the second time around because this program is powerful according to this forum. That's why I will wait first for your signal if what I'm gonna do next.

Thank you in advance. God bless. :)
