Dell Inspiron 6000 CPU Upgrade

My friend is looking to upgrade his Dell Inspiron 6000's CPU. Here is some basic info about the cpu & motherboard:


Intel Pentium M 750 1.86Ghz
Socket 479 mPGA



Model 0UF414
chipset: Intel i915 PM/GM

let me know what is the best processor i can get for this thing. Thanks!

Pentium M 780. It is one of the easier swaps as far as compatability. Usually run $60-70 on Ebay.

Now, the downside is there won't be a noticeable increase in speed with everyday use.

I am a retired Ford tech. Next to Fords, any computer is a piece of cake. (The cake, its not a lie)

3770K @4.5, Corsair H100, GTX780, 16gig Samsung, Obsidian 700 (yes there is a 700)
