Hello everyone i am trying to get my dvd burner and dvd rom to work, there is a yellow exclamation mark in device manager, a box come up that says windows cannot start this hardware device because it's configuration (in registry) is incomplete or damaged (code19) thanks for any help

System?
OS?
Device?

And the exact error code in detail would help as well..

Hi, Just in case it is a problem with the upper or lower filters, Microsoft has a Fixit for that, A fairly common problem.

Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs

You might want to backup the registry first or Set a system restore point.

Sorry, I had missed that it was in the XP forum, Just use the revised instructions I posted.

Chances are they will fix it. Just do the registry backup and / or create the system restore first.

some of the time this is caused by uninstalling burning software.

thanks for all the help you guys are the greatest, could not find the upper limits but i did delete the lower limits, and walla everything is good. thanks again for all the help---m
