I was infected with the smart hdd virus today. I used superantispyware to remove it, which it seemed to do, but now my desktop has lost all shortcuts. My start menu only has 3 programs under it and I have no my computer icon to try and fix it.
Can anybody help me out. I am using xp service pack 3. I did manage to get firefox open by accident.

Yes it will open a command prompt window to unhide every thing. Grinler (admin on here) is the creator of this app.

Where did you save the unhide.exe file?

It needs to be run from the desktop.

To see your hidden files in the meen time - click start
> my computer

> now in the top menu bar there should be a tab called tools

> click it

> go down to folder options I believe

> a new window will open

> click (I believe) the folders tab (the middle tab)

> click on show hidden folders

> click save

> click OK

> and now you will see your desktop files

> now re run unhide again and see if this helps

Can you right click on DESKTOP?

Press Windows+R key and type

%temp% and click ok

If you have a folder called SMTMP,copy it to a safe location

Did you run malwarebytes? I guess you didnot run MBAM
