Hi all,

I am looking for a new laptop, as a part of our new BYOD protocol.
Main requirements:
- Intel i7 CPU
- Descent chipset
- Descent GPU
- SSD, size is not important, as we run VmWare Cloud services. (Sphere 5.0)
- DVD WRITER!!!
- Minimum 3 USB ports, preferably more (mouse / external HDD / printer, I hate hubs...)

Also, I would like a laptop with 2 physical HDD's, in order to get a stable multi-boot system, but this is not mandatory, as I have access to multiple external HDD's...

Expenses are not that relevant, I can spare a dime to gain speed at work...

Questions:
- Are there any important pointers I am missing / should pay attention to?
- As I haven't bought a laptop for many years now (provided by work until now), is there a good place to do so online, with respect to customer services and warranty?
- I heard Asus is bringing out a new series on short term, is this worth waiting for?
- Are there many differences between the HM65 and HM67 Intel chipsets?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Is there a budget to this? If there isn't then this would fit your need.

Thanks for the tip, I never bought anything over 100,- online, but am seriously considering Newegg, as it lists prices in $ that are lower than average retail prices in in shops.

Are the warranties any good at Newegg?

Thanks a ton!

^ Well, you have Newegg's 30 day refund/replacement policy, in addition to the warranty offered by the laptop manufacturers themselves.

I would suggest visiting the link below and using the section on the left to key in your requirements:

Hmm, Newegg doesn't ship to Europe unfortunately.

I have relatives in the US who will :) *fixed*

@ReviverSoft, thanks for the link, works like a charm. I'll have a thorough read-through of the policies, and throw in an update here later.

Thanks! \0/

To answer your other questions, chipsets in laptops isn't really that important to look at as a desktop. Asus has already released there new line of laptops like this one for an example.

Thank you all for the responses, I'm waiting just a few weeks longer for the rest of the new Asus series to come out, and for a few first critics about them, but I got a lot further!
