Hello Everybody,

Long time no see !

I'd like to know is, pre-post entries into the general BC forum(s) completely private ?

Reason I am asking is what happens if I want to use it or happen to use it for a spell

check ? Or would someone mind that ??

Best Wishes

Hi
Use this forum. Tests and Scribbles
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/forum35.html

Ever wonder what a particular BBCode tag does? Or if you can use every single formatting tag on a single word? Here's where you can post any gibberish you like, test out different features of the forum, and generally go nuts without causing a scene. Please note that this forum will be regularly cleaned out so do not post anything important here.

Though Test and Scribbles is not private.

If you hit "Post Preview", the post isn't created and isn't public. However, you will lose it when you close the tab or window.

There is a private place where you can store notes etc.

You can get to it like this:

At the upper right of the page, you'll see your Member Name followed by a drop down arrow. Click on the drop down arrow. That will bring up a menu.

Click on My Settings. On the left hand side, you'll see a menu. One option is: Manage Notes. Click on that. You will now be at a place where you can store notes privately.

If you are actually in the middle of a post (while logged in), your user name can be shown in Italics as you compose (reply to) the post.

This is the only way that anyone can tell that you are answering / replying to a post.
For this reason, I often use a Text Editor while I compose a reply -

I see, . . so you are using the text editor out of being cautious, . . and so that no one knows that you are replying, . ? Why so precautions ?

I do it because I don't want to 'accidentally' close a tab, browser crashes or have the website freeze and lose a large or complex post. There is nothing I'm concerned about website wise. I just hate losing a large body of work due to unforeseen circumstances. By using an editor there is a copy that I can retrieve if the site or my browser eats the topic or reply.

There is one in the BBCode editor I use, and one in my browser and I have a plug in for the notepads I have. I have several spell checkers depending on the text input application I am using.

If you use Firefox, there is a built-in spellchecker that works exceptionally well when entering text in forums. I always copyread my entries before I hit the Post Button to make sure my posts make sense and do not contain grammatical errors.

I use the Firefox spellchecker. It does have the same problem all spell checkers have, for example:

Quite instead of quiet, such as, My new fan is very quite.
four instead of for or fore, or, I bought for of them.
To instead of too or two, or, them two.
asp instead of ask

Those will all pass a spell check.
Proofreading what has been written is a necessity.
