Question on Running Virtual Machines: Sorry is this is in wrong section

If i run a Virtual Machine is windows 7, which is running Windows XP, and it connected to the internet, without any security updates or AV

Therefore that XP, becomes infected, Does the Malware/Virus affect my original Windows 7 - Can it come out of Virtual Machine and attack the Main OS?

Thank You

No, Since a virtual machine is in a control environment any malware will not affect the host pc. I Know this since I got infected with malware in virtual machine and didn't affect my host PC.
